Providence St. Joseph Health is calling a Senior Research Scientist to our location in Portland, OR, or remotely from any eligible states within the US.
We are seeking a Senior Research Scientist Providence Research Network PSJH who will work independently to design and lead research studies in support of the Hub's strategic initiatives, with a focus on high-quality health services research designed to test innovative care and payment models or technologies that transform the organization, delivery, and finance of care. Special emphasis will be placed on partnering across the larger Providence system to conduct scientific research in support of ongoing transformation or innovation efforts and ensuring those efforts are well supported by scholarly learning and scientific inference. The Senior Scientist will act as Principal Investigator or Co-Investigator on health services research projects, develop partnerships and acquire grant or sponsor funding to support projects, manage study teams to ensure completion of research projects on time and budget, ensure compliance with regulatory requirements governing research, and disseminate results to internally to Providence and in the scientific literature. The position also collaborates with other scientists and partners from a variety of disciplines, both within and external to Providence. In addition to developing and leading research studies, the Senior Scientist will partner with other key research leaders at Providence to develop an overarching scientific strategy for supporting rapid, high-quality organizational learning, build Providence's reputation as a leader in scientifically sound care innovation research, and mentor developing researchers to grow their skills and help catalyze their research.
In this position you will:
Develop and/or implement rigorous scientific plans and protocols to accomplish specific scientific objectives.
Pursue external grant support to conduct innovative health services research with demonstrable value to Providence Health and Services. Prepares and submits proposals for grant and contract funding.
Independently perform, document, and report health services research results.
Supervise and evaluate project staff as needed to complete projects.
Manage project budgets to accomplish stated project objectives and keep projects within scope of available resources.
Develop methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria for solving research problems and answering research questions.
Summarize, interpret and document data. Formally report research results including publishing in peer-reviewed journals and presenting at professional research conferences.
Monitor compliance with all regulatory requirements governing research projects. Implements process/protocol changes as need.
Mentor other scientific and data staff to increase proficiencies in all aspects of the research life cycle.
Partner with Providence Research Network leadership to develop and advance scientific strategy in service to the PRN vision and goals.
Required qualifications for this position include:
Ph.D. in Health policy, public health, sociology, psychology, epidemiology, economics, or a related field or equivalent educ/experience
In compliance with the Providence Health and Services-OR Human Resources policy #302 Background Checks, a criminal background check is required for this position, based on assigned duties
7 years experience leading health services research projects as a principal investigator, including grant writing, budget management, compliance, and dissemination
