Providence Health & Services Program Manager, Cost Accounting in Renton, Washington
Providence St. Joseph Health is calling a Program Manager, Cost Accounting to our location in Seattle, WA or Renton, WA .
The Program Manager, Cost Accounting is responsible for leading the development of a consistent cost accounting approach and procedure with a goal of providing reliable, consistent, comparable and meaningful financial, operational and clinical data across the organization.
In this position you will:
Partner with regional decision support teams to lead the implementation of a common costing approach in the new single system decision support application.
Provide consulting support services to service line leaders and regional decision support teams to ensure the accurate and timely development of costing standards (RVU development) to a system schedule.
Develop a continuous training program to maintain the importance of accurate and timely costing standards.
Lead the maintenance of the system costing methodology and facilitate the annual and monthly costing process with regional decision support and costing teams.
Develop and maintain patient level cost accounting data and prepare financial, statistical information as well as produce service line profitability reports.
Manage the audit process and maintain accountability over the data integrity of the decision support system.
Partner with the Sr. Decision Support Business Analyst in the database management of the decision support system as it relates to data integration, auditing and reconciliation.
Act as a trusted business partner to provide financial and costing data, guidance, strategic recommendations to customers and leadership.
Facilitate and independently driving all processes and discussions associated with the cost accounting aspect of the System Decision Support team.
Champion the continuous improvement of solution development methodologies, systems requirement analysis, etc. in order to improve the delivery of the department’s services to various other business areas.
Required qualifications for this position include:
Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Accounting, Finance or other related field, or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
Minimum of five (5) years of previous professional accounting and/or cost accounting experience.
Minimum of two (2) years of previous experience with decision support and cost accounting in the healthcare industry supporting operational departments.
Strong knowledge of healthcare reimbursement and costing methodologies, service line profitability analysis and physician revenue modeling.
Experience in a large, matrixed organization, preferably healthcare.
Demonstrated expertise in the use of computers and electronic systems for data handling and transfer; and independent responsibility for health information management and data analysis, or equivalent.
Extensive experience with Excel, Access or similar databases, PowerPoint, and statistical and graphing applications is required.
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
Master’s degree in Health Administration, Public Health or Business Administration.
Demonstrated strong oral and written communication skills including ability to write business cases and effectively articulate ideas and recommendations.
Ability to effectively interact with all levels of management. Independent, proactive, and innovative problem solver who concisely provides options with recommended solution for management decision.
