Providence Health & Services Principal Engineering Program Manager - ServiceNow in Renton, Washington
Providence St. Joseph Health is calling a Principal Engineering Program Manager (ServiceNow) to our location in the Seattle area, Portland area, or Los Angeles area.
We are seeking a Principal Engineering Program Manager who will be responsible for leading ServiceNow HR projects within our Administrative Technologies group. The scope of this role is both broad (across business units) and deep (in terms of technical, process and continuous improvement skills and knowledge required to develop and build enterprise wide IS services). Responsibilities will include engaging with business partners, coordinating with our ServiceNow platform team, leading the HR ServiceNow project team (onshore and offshore), and defining roadmaps and strategy that align with our key business partners and stakeholders. This role will require someone who is comfortable working within a fast-paced environment with the aptitude to be a leader as well as the ability to be hands on and dive deep with the project delivery work. Your responsibilities span the life of the ServiceNow solution or service and include collaboration with engineering and business stakeholders to define the solution or service, manage the release as well as rollout, and deliver on time and with efficiency. You will also need to be comfortable working independently at times with the ability to deal with high degrees of ambiguity while also ensuring overall strategic alignment amongst cross functional and sometimes matrixed teams. Your ability to maintain our vision and strategic roadmap will be key in effectively driving project delivery as well as co-collaboration with sometimes demanding fellow IS organizations and project teams. A key part of your role will also include connecting with and supporting the caregiver community within Providence to ensure their needs are heard and met.
In this position you will have the following responsibilities:
Solution and Service: Creates design options for feature areas that enable scenarios. Evaluates data sources and research methods for use across the team. Uses expertise on caregiver/partner strengths and weaknesses to articulate an approach that will differentiate the solution and appeal to caregivers. Ensures that feature areas deliver the expected value to the caregiver and business objectives to PSJH. Consistently contributes key ideas to the vision that appeal to the caregiver’s sense of style, fun, and aesthetics as well as their functional needs.
Solution and Service Design: For scenario-related feature areas, creates, evolves, and communicates specifications for feature areas that enable cohesive, compatible, Iterable scenarios that span multiple feature releases and enable the multi-year vision. Applies world-class technical, functional and caregiver and partner knowledge to respond to trends and opportunities. Applies a strategic understanding of the timing and rationale for design choices for feature areas. Reviews and contributes to the designs of peers. Uses experience and expertise to improve design templates and process.
Caregiver lifecycle: Ensures that scenarios are effectively explained and enabled across stakeholder, partner, and caregiver messaging strategies. Collaborates with internal stakeholders to develop and optimize messaging and supporting collateral that enable support and adoption. Partners with caregivers and vendors to ensure Providence stakeholder readiness. Establishes or improves systems to manage solution feedback from caregivers and resolve issues. Defines and evolves ecosystem support resources for the duration of support lifecycle, such as content, tools, sample applications, and SDKs to enable user communities and drive adoption.
Engineering lifecycle: Defines the design iteration process for the team or organization and leads improvements over successive releases. Validates time estimates of others on the team. Participates in design, code, and test planning and reviews across the feature area, understands the root causes of issues, and finds ways to resolve them. Identifies multi-solution/service dependency issues and scheduling priorities, and establishes milestone exit criteria.
Solution and Service ownership: Has a sense of pride and personal accountability for end-to-end quality, completeness, and resulting user experience for the life of the solution/service. Identifies unaddressed issues and resolves, escalates, or finds the appropriate owner to ensure the highest level of quality. Uses the solution/service regularly to understand it thoroughly and discover ways to improve it.
Program Management functions: Proactively and independently manages client expectations for timelines and deliverables throughout the project/program lifecycle. Develops and gains sponsor approval for project delivery dates. Manage portfolio programs with very high complexity, strategic priority and/or visibility, system and/or regional priority - typically at an enterprise level. Engages and organizes the assignment of activities of multi-functional, large-scale teams, as well as the project estimates, task dependencies and schedule. Scope, risk and issue management, including documenting, communicating and facilitating resolutions or mitigation plans. Responsible for program communications, including communications across internal and external teams and groups.
Leadership: Acts as a coach and mentor to other Program Managers and Project Managers.
Required qualifications for this position include:
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering or equivalent education/experience.
8 years related experience.
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
Experience and knowledge with ServiceNow and specifically with the HR Service Delivery product
Knowledge and experience with Agile methodology including tools such as JIRA, ServiceNow and Azure DevOps
Strong program and project level experience preferably leading ServiceNow implementations with an emphasis on solution delivery through configurations, integrations, and customizations
Healthcare and HR experience preferred
