Providence Health & Services IAM Operations Manager in Renton, Washington


Providence is calling an Identity and Access Management (IAM) Operations Manager to Providence Health & Services in Renton, WA.

We are seeking a Manager IAM Operations PSJH to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff at all levels in the Providence Enterprise, including Security, Risk, Compliance, Informatics, integration partners. Obtains feedback from end user community and IS team Supervisors regarding responsiveness of the IAM Operations team. Collaborates with the IAM Security Engineering team on technology and process changes and facilitates adoption by the Operations team. Ensures processes are in alignment to the cyber security processes and policies. This position is often an escalation point for those in need, and must maintain professional and courteous behavior while faced with difficult situations. Responsible for gathering requirements and providing recommendations for implementing standard processes that will serve multiple ministries. Responsible for staff development and performance management of their direct reports. Participates in committees with cross-functional teams within Information Services and throughout the health system across all ministries. Understands and can represent the IAM workflows, technologies and processes. Advocates for the IAM Vision.

In this position you will have the following responsibilities:

  • Ability to learn and understand the Audit and Security Compliance requirements which drive the IAM processes and awareness to identify process improvements to assure security

  • Ability to work effectively to build positive relationships with collegues, customers and executive leadership

  • Demonstrated ability to study, understand, adapt and respond effectively to a constantly changing environment.

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to perform challenging tasts efficiently and effectively.

  • Assists with hiring, training, and development of staff to ensure the department has both the technical and organizational skills to effectively maintain operations and support as measured by meeting the established service levels; conducts and oversees evaluations and establishes performance goals of the staff; resolves disciplinary problems, grievances, and other sensitive personnel matters. Demonstrated ability to coordinate and facilitate teamwork with multidisciplinary group – the candidate will be sought after to facilitate cross-departmental strategy sessions and process improvement initiatives. Build and strengthen the Identity & Access Operations team by understanding the tactics of the Specialist role and providing leadership when change is constant.

  • Evaluates and recommends new approaches to enhance customer service. Standardizes operational processes to server multiple ministries with consistent levels of customer service. Identifies and eliminates non-value added processes. Audits and enforces adherence to standard processes and policies. Provides feedback and recommendations to IAM Solutions team for improvements to IAM technologies and strategic processes. Provides positive and supportive work environment and leadership using the goals and objectives of Information Services and Providence Health and Services. Supports enhancing employees’ expertise to maintain/develop knowledge, skills, abilities, and attitudes which promote excellence and productive team-oriented performance. Promotes and encourages positive team problem solving to empower employees to act effectively to cause change. Escalates critical issues, problems or delays in production, projects or any other issues that has an impact on the customer. Approachable and knowledgeable resource for team members gain quick guidance to unblock work. Expert understanding of all Access workflows.


Required qualifications for this position include:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or equivalent educ/experience

  • 6 years experience in information technology operations or engineering

  • 4 years experience leading a technical team in an information technology organization
