Providence St. Joseph Health is calling a Director, Supply Chain Operations to our location in Renton, WA.

We are seeking a Director, Supply Chain Operations to reflect the Providence employees who work throughout Providence Health & Services in supply chain services and systems in support of our ministries and operations in all regions from Alaska to California. OSCM’s objective is to ensure our core strategy, One Ministry Committed to Excellence, is enhanced along with the overall patient care experience (know me, care for me, ease my way) by delivering a robust foundation of services, operational and technical support, and the sharing of comprehensive, relevant, and highly specialized supply chain management expertise.

The Director, Supply Chain Operations is based in the local ministry/ministries this position supports. This position is chiefly accountable for the collaborative integration, implementation, and optimization of the One SCM Operations and Logistics strategy at the local ministry level in close coordination with the Director, Region Supply Chain Operations. This position is responsible for Supply Chain departmental logistics operations for the assigned ministries, including implementing standardized system-developed supply chain strategic plans and polices, overseeing all local supply chain operations and logistics functions (Distribution/Receiving/Materials Operations/Warehousing/Pars/Inventory), directing supply chain operations staff, managing local vendor relationships and serving as the Supply Chain champion and liaison to local ministry executive staff, department directors/managers, other clinicians and physicians.

In this position you will have the following responsibilities:

  • Establish a Regional SCM Operations structure that is consistent and in alignment with the one SCM Operations and Logistics vision and overall strategy which includes standardized facility based receiving, storage, inventory management/control, point of use/low unit of measure, and distribution operations in all acute and critical access hospitals and all continuing care ministries.

  • Optimize use of Lawson MMIS and other supply chain automation tools that works to eliminate unnecessary work, simplify necessary work, centralize simplified work, and automate centralized work.

  • Work with the Director, Enterprise Inventory Management Operations to develop system wide inventory strategy and improve supply chain performance through a reduction in obsolete inventory, improvements in inventory turns and improvement in inventory replenishment processes.

  • Lead contract and efficiency related cost saving initiatives throughout the region and implements these initiatives in a responsive manner at each ministry meeting established system wide savings, implementation and compliance goals.

  • Support Regional Supply Chain Operations using strong interpersonal and communication skills to overcome resistance to use of change methodologies; advise and consult with System Operations and Logistics leadership team on how to perform tasks and create deliverables; support issue resolution and decision-making; and identify integration points with other projects.

  • Optimize use of existing facilities and staffing to ensure appropriate product stocking levels and utilization.

  • Required qualifications for this position include:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare, Business or Logistics/Supply Chain Management or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.

  • 10 years total relevant Supply Chain Management experience in any industry.

  • 5 years of Logistics and Operational leadership experience in a healthcare setting with key experience highlights to include: experience creating and successfully executing strategic plans for highly complex issues; healthcare business operations and/or financial management experience in a healthcare setting; experience standardizing complex and disparate processes; experience in process improvement methodology, change management, operational improvement in complex systems.

  • Proven skills in communicating with technical staff, and customers.

Qualifications:

Required qualifications for this position include:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare, Business or Logistics/Supply Chain Management or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.

  • 10 years total relevant Supply Chain Management experience in any industry.

  • 5 years of Logistics and Operational leadership experience in a healthcare setting with key experience highlights to include: experience creating and successfully executing strategic plans for highly complex issues; healthcare business operations and/or financial management experience in a healthcare setting; experience standardizing complex and disparate processes; experience in process improvement methodology, change management, operational improvement in complex systems.

  • Proven skills in communicating with technical staff, and customers.

  • Demonstrated planning and project management skills.

  • Proven ability to anticipate and respond proactively in a dynamic environment.

  • Proven ability to establish and articulate strategic priorities and objectives.

  • Strong attention to detail and outstanding analytical skills.

  • Proven ability to foster prime vendor relationships that will drive toward a successful partnership.

  • Proven ability to organize multiple projects, schedules, demand and to meet shifting priorities.

  • Demonstrated ability to study, understand, adapt and respond effectively to a constantly changing environment.

  • Must understand supply chain requirements in healthcare environments with multiple logistical concerns and issues.

  • Must know the inventory and distribution software capabilities of the Lawson MMIS system.

  • Outstanding written and oral communication.

  • Proficiency with the MS-Office suite of products, Outlook, and Lawson MMIS.

Preferred qualifications for this position include:

  • Master's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, Public Administration, Supply Chain/Logistics Management or a related field.

  • Formal training in Lean/Six Sigma or similar process improvement programs.

  • Certification either as a Certified Materials and Resource Professional (CMRP) from the American Hospital Association.

  • Certified Professional Logistician (CPL) from the Society of Logistics Engineers or similar certification.
