Providence Health & Services Coding Compliance Assistant PSJH in Renton, Washington
Providence St. Joseph Health is calling a Coding Compliance Assistant to our location in Renton, Washington.
Risk and Integrity Services-Compliance (RIS) is the name adopted to reflect the Providence St. Joseph Health (PSJH) employees who work throughout the Providence St. Joseph Health System and supports all regions within PSJH. The RIS-Coding Compliance Assistant/Audit Coordinator will be primarily responsible for creating and running provider utilization reports in Epic, gathering data and preparing coding audits to send to our auditing vendor (UASI) as well as working with UASI closely to ensure they are following PSJH coding and documentation internal auditing protocols. This position will also work on department projects, perform research, prepare presentation materials for the Coding Compliance Educators and Liaisons and other duties as assigned. The RIS System Coding Compliance department focuses only on professional fee (profee) services for the physician billing (PB) side of Coding Compliance education, auditing and creating coding compliance memos and guidance for all staff within the PSJH system.
In this position you will have the following responsibilities:
Assist in preparing complex coding/audit reports; perform data and/or information gathering; compute semi-complex calculations; and prepare special reports/analyses for review by appropriate personnel.
Compose and edit coding memos and other documents as required.
Prepare presentation materials for provider and staff education.
Run reports from the Epic system and review internal department spreadsheets to analyze and prepare Excel & Word documents based on audit results, provider utilization data and prepare department metrics and analyses for RIS-Compliance Leadership.
Participate in all mandatory staff meetings as well as taking minutes/notes & help with creating and copying agendas, editing and formatting contents of meeting minutes.
Required qualifications for this position include:
High School Diploma or GED
1 year experience with similar or related duties and responsibilities in a large office setting
Knowledge of CPT, ICD-10 & HCPC Coding, Medical Terminology and Documentation Guidelines
Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint with MS Access proficiency a plus
Knowledge of Electronic Medical Record (EMR) software and ability to learn new software quickly with knowledge of Epic system a plus
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
2 years as a certified professional coder CPC, CCS, CCS-P and/or ACS-EM or equivalent
Minimum of 1 year of experience in a healthcare setting
