Providence AVP - Diversity, Equity & Inclusion in Renton, Washington
The AVP, Caregiver Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) PSJH partners with stakeholders and sponsors across the organization to develop and implement an organization-wide diversity and inclusion strategy. This role serves as a subject matter expert, providing coaching, education and consultancy to cross-functional senior leaders and HR partners enabling them to implement the diversity and inclusion strategy. As such, this role will influence the development of, and execute directly, creative ways attract, retain, develop and promote diverse talent across all areas of the business; ensure structures exist to provide an inclusive and equitable environment to all caregivers and those we serve; and ensure those we serve receive the our highest quality of care and service regardless of their background, demographics, or other identifying and differentiating characteristics. This role requires the ability to be a DEI SME, be a thought leader, to educate and influence other passionate and engaged stakeholders, and the ability to translate strategies or practices into practical and actionable solutions with measurable outcomes. The chosen candidate will have proven experience designing, building, driving, and delivering a DEI strategy for a large organization with engagement metrics and roadmap.
The AVP, Diversity, Equity & Inclusion will have the following accountabilities:
Develops tools, guidelines, and solutions to help the organization strengthen a culture that imbeds diversity, equity and inclusion into all HR processes, creating a work environment where all caregivers feel welcome and are empowered to do their best work using their unique gifts. Provides feedback, instruction, and development guidance to help others excel in their current or future work responsibilities; planning and supporting the development of individual skills and abilities.
Ensures diversity, equity and inclusion programs are in alignment with the rhythm of the operations and that all programs, strategies, events and engagements are scheduled and designed to encourage maximum participation, sponsorship, and support.
Supports the Caregiver Resource Groups and Caregiver Diversity, Equity and Inclusion to identify a process, metrics and methodology for creating tools and structure as needed and maximizing them to advance the organization’s mission.
Partners with HR and leaders to educate and coach leaders and caregivers on progressive ways to enhance diversity, equity and inclusion on their teams and across the organization. Establishes systems and processes to attract, develop, engage, and retain talented employees; creating a work environment where people can realize their full potential, thus allowing the organization to meet current and future clinical and operational challenges.
Designs and monitors metrics, corresponding dashboards and recurring reports to measure success, glean learnings and incorporate into future strategy, programs and initiatives.
Partners with ITM, HR and leaders to educate and coach leaders and caregivers on progressive ways to enhance diversity, equity and inclusion on their teams and across the organization.
Partners with talent acquisition to discover and utilize the most effective and relevant practices and external partnerships to help attract and hire a diverse group of candidates.
Ensures a holistic view of DEI is provided while working towards creating viable and sustainable solutions for our dynamic environment by creating diversity and inclusion programs in alignment with the rhythm of the business and that events, requests, engagements, etc., are scheduled and designed to encourage maximum participation, sponsorship, and support.
Partners with executive leaders from Mission, Community Partnerships, Government Affairs & External Advocacy, and Population Health to make sure that Caregiver Diversity, Equity and Inclusion strategies are aligned and imbedded.
Oversees development of strategic and operational plans for key strategies and ensures that they are aligned across the regions and lines of business.

Required education/experience for this position include:
Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Human Resources, Management or other related field
Master’s Degree in Business, Human Resources, Management or other related field
At least an 8 year track record of achieving results and has an energy level that instills a sense of urgency in others when organizational and/or customer needs are at stake.
At least 4 years of experience in leading and managing large, complex diversity and inclusion strategies to successful completion.
Strong connections with diverse organizations and leaders at the local and national level to deepen visibility, connection and partnership with other entities at the leading edge of diversity and inclusion issues
Ability to identify and drive organizational and cultural changes needed to adapt strategically to changing market demands, technology, and internal initiatives; inspiring innovative approaches to improve results by transforming organizational culture, systems, or products/services.
Strategic vision and executive acumen, change management expertise, persuasive communication abilities, effective relationship building across a variety of diversity dimensions.
Ability to establish and sustain trusting relationships by accurately perceiving and interpreting one’s own and others’ emotions and behavior in the context of the political environment; leveraging insights to effectively manage one’s own responses and reactions.
Ability to identify and define practical metrics for measuring progress, and analyze quantitative and qualitative data with a focus on information conversion and prioritized planning and execution showing a mature use of sound judgment and discretion.
