Providence Health & Services Associate Compliance Specialist - PSJH in Renton, Washington

Description:

Providence St. Joseph Health is calling an Associate Compliance Specialist PSJH to our location in Montana or Spokane, WA.

We are seeking an Associate Compliance Specialist PSJH to be responsible for providing compliance and privacy program support to management across Providence St. Joseph Health and its Affiliates in furtherance of our mission and to provide an effective compliance program. This is an entry level compliance position. An Associate Compliance Specialist will work with more senior compliance specialists while developing skills in investigative and research techniques and practices, and certain regulatory, compliance and privacy topics. This position works with highly sensitive information.

Responsibilities are diverse supporting Providence and its affiliates, including hospitals, physician clinics, skilled nursing facilities, health plan, medical foundations, educational institutions, child care centers, in-home services, hospice, and Providence Strategic Management Services (PSMS).

This position includes some overnight travel and routine inter-facility commuting.

The incumbent performs all duties in a manner that promotes Providence St. Joseph Health mission, values, and philosophy. In all aspects, he/she serves as a role model for the values and mission of the organization.

In this position you will have the following responsibilities:

  • Perform assigned investigations and compliance projects following RIS practice standards while keeping management well apprised of results and completion status. Investigations and projects will be less complex in nature

  • Participate, under the direction of a senior or manager, on large, complex, multi-location or system-wide projects or investigations, including work being performed under the direction of legal counsel

  • Perform research to gain an understanding of regulatory and compliance requirements and risk and control environment related to investigations and other assigned projects

  • Analyze, under the direction of a senior or manager, investigative results and draft recommendations that will improve controls and mitigate risk to the organization

  • Monitor assigned open recommendations working closely with client management to assure action plans are completed and risk is mitigated in a timely manner

  • Support regional and local compliance and privacy committees by taking minutes, tracking action items and maintaining records of committee activity

  • Provide input to the annual risk assessment and RIS annual plan development

  • Perform special projects and other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

Required qualifications for this position include:

  • Valid Driver's License

  • Strong oral and written communication skills including active listening skills

  • Ability to research and apply across their region or assigned areas, state and federal laws and regulations, including: quality in healthcare; Medicare Conditions of Participation; HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability Accountability Act); HITECH (Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health); Stark; anti-kickback; fraud waste and abuse; and antitrust

  • Ability to plan and execute assigned projects and/or investigations while meeting project milestones and investigative standards

Preferred qualifications for this position include:

  • Bachelor's Degree in healthcare, business administration, accounting, finance, management information systems, or related fields of study OR equivalent educ/experience

  • 2 years of compliance or privacy experience OR 2 years of experience in healthcare auditing, finance, accounting, law, or other related field.

  • Certified in Healthcare Compliance, Healthcare Privacy Compliance, Healthcare Privacy & Security, Compliance & Ethics Professional, CPA or Certified Internal Auditor
